Wearable Technology Excels With the Samsung Gear 2

Disclosure:   As member of a pretty cool team of influencers, I received the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with line of service from Verizon. No additional compensation was provided nor did I promise positive feedback. All opinions are my own.

The second version of Samsung’s smartwatch is awesome. The Gear 2 has a stylish and has a wide array of useful features. It’s also with more than just one smartphone. The Gear 2 works with a lineup of 17 Galaxy phones and tablets, including the S3, S4 and S5, and connects with the device via Bluetooth. I happen to be on the Verizon network, so it works lightning fast as well

The Gear 2 has a responsive, 1.6-inch touchscreen display. It also has a speaker and microphone for calls and audio recording. It has a metal body and a useful home button. It also has a 2-megapixel camera and the Gear 2 looks about as classy as any gadget can look on your wrist. Samsung built this one with a heart rate sensor, the ability to store songs on the watch’s 4 gigabytes of internal storage, and an IR blaster to let you control your TV and cable box, awesome right?!

All those are cool features, but the main reason this smartwatch matters to you, is to be able to check e-mails, text messages and missed calls without having to remove your phone from your purse or pocket. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and I have to say that the Gear 2 works well at showing me who sent me an e-mail, the subject line and the first few sentences of the body. It also shows mr images from text messages and provides details on Facebook and Twitter alerts, very useful and efficient.

It has a non-removable battery lasts around three days over typical usage on a single charge. I don’t know who would do this, but for what it’s worth, this watch is water-resistent so it can be worn in the shower. Hand’s down favorite feature though, responding to texts via voice control or preset phrase templates, like “I’ll call you in a few” or “be right back.”
